Research published by Anglia Ruskin University and Drinkaware found that only one in ten people reporting a spiking experience had contacted police. Around half of those who did not report it saw little point in doing so.
Why this matters
The analysis used YouGov surveys from 2022 and 2023 and examined measures at Cambridgeshire venues. The programme also evaluated commercial tests and analysed samples. Its findings highlight reporting barriers and the need for coordination between venues, authorities and researchers.
Context matters
These are survey respondents’ accounts. The percentage is not a measure of incidents confirmed through toxicological testing.
The date refers to the linked original publication. This summary preserves the context at that date.
