California adds drink lids to Type 48 venue requirements

AB 2375 expands the measures applying to these premises. ABC’s April 4, 2025 advisory announced that California’s Type 48 licensees would have to provide a drink lid on request from July 1. Their prominently displayed signs also needed updating to tell customers lids were available.

Scottish court imposes life sentences for a fatal drug-facilitated assault

Prosecutors reported minimum terms of 23 and 19 years for two convicted men. The Dundee court set the sentences following guilty verdicts in July. The case involved administering substances, sexual violence and murder.

Oslo study examines 100 suspected spiking cases

Researchers compared toxicology findings with substances patients reported taking. The PLOS ONE study identified unreported drugs in 15 of 100 patients. Alcohol was detected in 69, all of whom reported drinking. No GHB was detected.
