From research to market
The announcement sets out commercialisation goals. It does not establish universal protection or prove that every drink can be checked reliably.
An earlier research programme
In September 2020, UV had announced a patent from its MODeLiC team for recognising GHB through a colour change. That proposal envisaged a portable kit containing small containers and droppers. The earlier project identifies the substance and format being investigated; its findings cannot simply be extended to other drugs.
