Reading the findings
The figures include voluntary consumption and possible non-consensual administration. They do not mean that 16% necessarily experienced drink tampering. Researchers called for continued monitoring.
An earlier adolescent study
Some members of the team had previously contributed to a separate Adicciones study involving 7,181 Galician pupils aged 12 to 17. It used paper questionnaires and also examined low reporting levels. This is a distinct research population: its age range and sample cannot be merged with the university findings.
