London court imposes life sentence for drug-facilitated assaults on ten women

A minimum term of 24 years was set before eligibility for parole consideration. Inner London Crown Court sentenced Zhenhao Zou following a trial that concluded in March 2025. Prosecutors reported 28 offences, including eleven rape counts involving ten women, with crimes committed in the United Kingdom and China.

UK government announces anti-spiking training for hospitality workers

The plan proposed a December pilot followed by expansion in 2025. The government announced training to help nightlife staff recognise suspected incidents, support affected people and help preserve evidence.

UK study finds 90% of self-reported spiking experiences were not reported to police

ARU and Drinkaware examined national surveys and venue responses. Research published by Anglia Ruskin University and Drinkaware found that only one in ten people reporting a spiking experience had contacted police. Around half of those who did not report it saw little point in doing so.
